SE SW regional Championships 30th April - 2nd May 2022

Three of Carrick masters younger members (under 24 years) successfully qualified for the SE SW Regional Championships held at Plymouth Life Centre Long Course pool over the May Bank Holiday weekend.

Carrick masters has supported Aiden, Jodie and Mikey in their return to the “Age group” competitive arena. Qualifying times for this Regional event are tough, have to be recorded on the SE age group rankings and must be achieved at a licensed gala in the last 6 months. All 3 swimmers embraced the challenge, achieved qualifying times and were eligible to compete in at least one event.

Aiden swum in the 50m, 100m and 200m freestyle races getting a bronze medal in the 50m free and silver in the 200m freestyle para category. All Aiden’s times were season best times and he continues to work steadily towards his lifetime best times, some of which were recorded from as long ago as 2017.

Jodie swum the 50m breast stroke. With improvements in her dive and stroke technique she swum over a second faster than her lifetime best time set in 2016. This was an amazing achievement!

Mikey qualified for the 50m free, 50m breast stroke and 50m fly. All his sprint races were technically well swum and he achieved lifetime (or within 0.04 secs of lifetime) PBs in all 3 events. Every 0.01 second counts on these sprints!

Congratulations to these young athletes who are now eligible to enter the SE SW Region Fast 5 competition on June 26th at Millfield School .

Carrick masters aims to support all its members to enjoy a lifelong participation in the sport of swimming and it was a pleasure to watch Aiden, Jodie and Mikey perform to such a high standard at a top level event.
